What do we do?

Real business growth doesn’t just happen. ScaleUp Executives help small to mid-sized business owners identify the next steps needed to create sustainable growth. We each have our own skillsets and have all founded or been a part of successful business operations. We have experienced the ups and downs that come with growing a business and want to share those lessons learned with other business owners who may be struggling with defining the best path to growth.

How we do it!

The secret formula to success is simple – it’s understanding the fundamentals of the business and making sure that the cost of doing business is less than the revenues. That includes ensuring that the market wants what is being offered.

ScaleUp looks at the market. We research the market place to understand where the product or service fits, and what the predicted demand will look like.

ScaleUp looks at the product. We look at what is being offered and work out the cost, both direct and indirect, and project its profitability over time.

ScaleUp looks at the organization. We look at the company structure and see if it is operating in a way that maximizes efficiency.

Now reading this you might think that anyone can do it, and for those entrepreneurs who have all of these skills, that’s true. But most company founders have particular strengths, and need others to augment their core competencies. ScaleUp Executives have the benefit of an outside viewpoint. Janet Ahlgren is a Founder, and Principal in ScaleUp Executives’ South Florida location and a serial entrepreneur in disruptive technologies. Her latest venture is developing proactive measures employee training for organizations responding to business challenges related to coronavirus operational disruptions. She has deep expertise in emergency planning and response, training strategies, business, marketing media, compliance, operations, risk assessment, and negotiation. Her affiliative approach and analytical vision help focus innovation teams’ creative flame, refine their vision, improve product market fit and achieve patent awards. She has been awarded multiple patents for collaborative technologies.

Stuart Rudolph

Stuart Rudolph is a Founder, and Principal in ScaleUp Executives’ South Florida location and a serial entrepreneur. He has designed and built emergency management operation systems that have been deployed around the world. The systems have been used for planning, mitigating, training, and responding to natural and man-made crises, such as COVID-19. This technology was core to the IBM emergency management offerings used, for example in FIFA world cup games, and global SmartCities initiatives. Rudolph has been a key player in the emerging and disruptive digital technology space: emergency and disaster planning and response, digital storage, image capture, unmanned aircraft, IoT, biometric identification, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He has worked with NASA on development of the Unmanned Traffic Management System. Holder of 10 patents for a rapid application development and collaboration platform, he’s an out of the box thinker who applies strong business discipline to strategy, business development, product development and executive management for small and medium sized, cutting-edge technology companies. He is a dynamic speaker, superior motivator, and a pragmatic business leader.

Michael Kay

Mike Kay is a Founder, and Principal in the ScaleUp Executives Munich location. A seasoned business owner and entrepreneur, Mike understands the risks, challenges and communications involved in innovation and change. He has extensive experience in emergency management and disaster response, and effectively melds big picture perspectives with field-level realities. He helps new and veteran CxOs to formulate, measure and expand their ability to close business through the internet. Through dialogue and agile marketing strategies he helps position companies to achieve success through internet driven sales initiatives. Mike deeply comprehends clients’ current position, what is possible, and what steps will lead to success.

Dr. Christopher Harz

Christopher Harz is a Principal in the California location who provides ScaleUp Executives with expertise in emergency management, Virtual & Augmented Reality for Training and Simulation, large-scale military/civilian war games with joint integrated planning, Blockchain for secure communications and inventory tracking, and telemedicine/telehealth. He is a futurist who has produced educational technology projects for the Department of Defense, NATO, and Intelligence Services. He has been Chief Marketing Officer of high-tech startups in the US and the EU. His doctoral dissertation covered accelerated structured community formation and learning for first responders and crisis response forces. Recently Dr. Harz has been working with the US Department of Education on online telehealth and telementoring projects and in support of Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) plans and exercises for Organizational Recovery.

Scott Crutcher

Scott Crutcher, a Scaleup Executives Principal located in the Missouri location, is a passionate, execution-oriented serial entrepreneur and investor. Scott contributes technology expertise and business acumen to early stage startups and mid-stage growth companies, leveraging his deep experience in a variety of SaaS, consumer web and e-commerce technologies and development languages. Scott serves companies in a variety of roles -- acting CTO, general business advisor, design and strategic visionary, and director of development and launch of new products.

Amer Yaqub

Amer Yaqub Vice President, Business Development for COVID-Trained.com, has extensive sales, marketing and business development experience with Fortune 500 and startup companies in technology (AT&T, Homesnap), media (Washington Post, Foreign Policy) and packaged goods sectors (Quaker Oats, ConAgra). He developed industry-leading initiatives and products for governments and blue chip companies in more than 40 countries. He also has taught more than a dozen undergraduate classes as an adjunct business professor at George Mason, Hood College and University of Maryland Global Campus on leadership, marketing research and international business. He is a prominent guest speaker at universities and international conferences. Amer has an economics degree from Carnegie Mellon and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
